About Us:

Reliance Housing Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded in 1997.

Reliance’s mission is to develop sustainable and diverse communities by building high quality affordable housing, revitalizing neighborhoods and responding to community needs.

Since our inception, we have developed and preserved over $400,000,000 of affordable housing:

Reliance operates with a hybrid business management plan, utilizing the best practices from the for profit business community while strictly adhering to regulations governing non-profit entities. The overall direction of Reliance is determined by our Board of Directors. Day to day management is carried out by the professional staff.

Reliance focuses its development efforts in areas that suffer from a severe shortage of affordable rental housing, typically the result of disproportionately high real estate costs and relatively low area median income levels.

Our requirement for Return on Investment considers a dual bottom line, measuring economic reward along with social benefit.

SMART Growth priorities, including sustainability and Transit Oriented Development are key considerations for all Reliance developments.

Historically, Reliance has tackled complex developments that have a high degree of public purpose and require multiple funding sources.
